Mildred M. Coughlin Scholarship

The award for the scholarship is up to $1,750. Named after the former principal of Western High School, the Mildred M. Coughlin scholarship is available for young women Named for a former principal of Western High School. They must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. They must also plan to attend a four-year college or university in liberal arts.

Arthur W. Elder, II Scholarship

The award for this scholarship is up to $1,250. Arther W. Elder, II was a graduate of Lake Clifton High School in 1974. This scholarship is for students who want to go to college but perhaps weren’t able to reach their full potential in high school due to unforeseen circumstances. This scholarship is open to all students from any public high school located in Baltimore City, but if your student attended and graduated from Heritage High School, you do receive preferential treatment. Students must have maintained on average a “C” level grade and must have been active in extracurriculars like sports or others.

Artemis Scholarship

The award for this scholarship is up to $500. The Artemis scholarship is specifically geared towards young women who’ve graduated from a public high school in Baltimore City and have a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. This is for young women who are looking to attend either a four-year or a two-year university.

Al Sanders Foundation for Music Studies Scholarship

This award gives up to $3,500 in scholarship money. Al Sanders had a celebratory career, sharing his love of music on WJZ-TV. In order to give back to the community and the thing which he loved the most, this scholarship will help students who have graduated from a public high school in either Baltimore County or City who plan on majoring and pursuing a career in music. Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Legg Mason’s Community Scholarship

Legg Mason Global Asset Management created the Legg Mason Community Scholarship to help fund full-ride tuition for students who’ve graduated from Baltimore City public high schools. These students must be looking to pursue a four-year degree at a public college or university located in the state of Maryland. They must maintain a minimum of a 2.5 GPA. Students can receive up to $80,000 total (or $20,000 annually) for tuition, board, and room. You must use the award for the next academic year once granted the award. The scholarship is renewable after the first year of university.

Charles R. “Dick” Ward Scholarship

Charles R. “Dick” Ward was a beloved athlete who put a high value on education. He established himself as a mentor and community leader, becoming a successful business owner in the South of Baltimore. The scholarship is for students from Digital Harbor High School, specifically students who have accomplished the following:

  • Taken part in the Building STEPS Program their senior or junior years.
  • Have ranked in the top 15% of the class in both years.
  • Demonstrated leadership through extracurricular activities or community service.
  • Plan to pursue a Bachelor’s degree at a four-year university or an AA degree at a local community college with plans to transfer.

This scholarship awards up to $5,000 each year, totaling up to $20,000 for a four-year college. It can renew every year.
